After he/she enters payment page, the customer is switched to a Secured Mode in order to collect the card information. This ensures that customer privacy and credit information is carefully guarded. You'll know that you're in an encrypted area when you see a solid key when using Netscape Navigator or a closed Padlock when using Internet Explorer. And the payment page address "where you enter your credit card details" will change from "http" to "https".
